On October 14, 2024, the Minister of Defense promulgated Circular 68/2024/TT-BQP regulating the training, examination, and issuance of military driver licenses; enhancing legal knowledge on road traffic for operators of specialized motorbikes under the management of the Ministry of National Defense of Vietnam.
The military driver license is a type of driver license issued by the authorization of the Minister of National Defense to the Department of Vehicle Management and Transportation/General Department of Logistics and Engineering for military personnel, national defense officials, national defense public employees, and contracted workers serving in the Ministry of National Defense of Vietnam to operate one or more types of motor vehicles participating in road traffic in Vietnam.
The military driver license, categorized according to the provisions of the Law on Order and Road Traffic Safety 2024, is also in accordance with the military-specific characteristics of road motor vehicles under the management scope of the Ministry of National Defense of Vietnam.
The validity of the military driver license in Vietnam is as follows:
- Military driver licenses of categories A1, A, B1 are without a term limit;
- Military driver licenses of categories B, C1, C, D1, D2, D, C1E, CE, CX have a validity of 5 years from the date of issuance;
- In cases of issuance or renewal for different reasons, the validity follows the period stated on the military driver license.
Note: The military driver license is invalid in the following cases:
- The military driver license has expired according to the expiration date stated on the license;
- The military driver license has been deducted all points according to regulations (the military driver license has a total of 12 points);
- The military driver license is subject to a revocation decision when fraudulent acts, falsification of documents, or papers are discovered to obtain, renew, or reissue the military driver license.
