Vaccination schedule of the Expanded Immunization Program in Vietnam

The Minister of Health of Vietnam promulgates Circular 10/2024/TT-BYT dated June 13, 2024, regarding the list of infectious diseases, subjects, and scope requiring the mandatory use of vaccines and medical biological products, including guidelines for the vaccination schedule under the Expanded Immunization Program in Vietnam.

Vaccination schedule of the Expanded Immunization Program in Vietnam

The regulation stipulates the list of infectious diseases, the subjects required to use vaccines, and the vaccination schedule of the Expanded Immunization Program in Vietnam as follows:

- Hepatitis B

+ Monovalent hepatitis B vaccine;

++  Subjects:  Newborns;

++  Newborn  dose:  administered  within  24  hours  after  birth.

+ Combined vaccines containing hepatitis B components

++  Subjects:  Children;

++  First  dose:  when  the  child  is  2  months  old

++  Second  dose:  at  least  1  month(*)  after  the  first  dose

++  Third  dose:  at  least  1  month  after  the  second  dose

- Tuberculosis

+ Tuberculosis vaccine.

+ Subjects: Children.

+ Administered once within 1 month after birth.

- Diphtheria

+ Combined vaccines containing diphtheria components.

+ Subjects: Children.

++  First  dose:  when  the  child  is  2  months  old

++  Second  dose:  at  least  1  month  after  the  first  dose

++  Third  dose:  at  least  1  month  after  the  second  dose

++  Booster  dose  when  the  child  is  18  months  old

+ Combined vaccines containing reduced diphtheria dose.

++  Subjects:  Children.

++  Booster  dose  when  the  child  is  7  years  old.

- Pertussis

+ Combined vaccines containing pertussis components.

+ Subjects: Children.

++  First  dose:  when  the  child  is  2  months  old

++  Second  dose:  at  least  1  month  after  the  first  dose

++  Third  dose:  at  least  1  month  after  the  second  dose

++  Booster  dose  when  the  child  is  18  months  old

Note:

(*) The interval between each vaccination of 1 month is calculated as at least 28 days.

(**) The basic dose is administered before the child is 1 year old.
