Two more areas in basic research to be considered for the Ta Quang Buu Award in Vietnam

The Minister of Science and Technology issued Circular 18/2023/TT-BKHCN dated August 15, 2023 amending a number of articles of the Ta Quang Buu Award Regulations issued together with Circular 01/2015/TT-BKHCN.

Two more areas in basic research to be considered for the Ta Quang Buu Award in Vietnam

The Ta Quang Buu Prize will be awarded in basic research in the following fields:

- Natural sciences: mathematics, computer and information sciences, physics, chemistry, related earth and environmental sciences, biology, other natural sciences;

- Science, engineering, and technology;

- Medical and pharmaceutical sciences;

- Agricultural science;

- Social science; (Additional)

- Humanities. (Additional)

Thus, Circular 18/2023/TT-BKHCN has added 02 fields to be considered for the Ta Quang Buu Award compared to Circular 01/2015/TT-BKHCN.

**Ta Quang Buu Award is an award from the Ministry of Science and Technology, held periodically every three (03) years to encourage and honor scientists with excellent basic research results, contributing to promoting Vietnam's science and technology integration and development.

Criteria to be considered for the Ta Quang Buu Award as of October 1, 2023 in Vietnam

Specifically, from October 1, 2023, the standards for scientists to be considered for the Ta Quang Buu Award are prescribed as follows:

To be considered for the Ta Quang Buu Award, a scientist must fully meet the following criteria:

- Be nominated by an organization or individual and submit a dossier for consideration in awarding the award according to regulations.

- Have basic research results that meet the following standards:

+ Made in Vietnam.

+ Published in international scientific journals for at least one (01) year and no more than seven (07) years from the end of receiving applications for the Award.

+ Register and store the results of performing scientific and technological tasks according to the provisions of the law in case they are results of scientific and technological tasks that use or receive financial support from the state budget.

- Make the most important contributions to basic research results.

- Do not violate the provisions of Article 8 of the Law on Science and Technology.
