To develop and complete digital data for 100% of public libraries in Vietnam by 2025

On February 11, 2021, the Prime Minister of Vietnam issued Decision 206/QD-TTg in 2021 approving the "Program on digital transformation of the library industry by 2025, orientation to 2030".

Vietnam's Decision 206/QD-TTg has set out the main goals by 2025 for the program of digital transformation of the library industry by 2025, with orientation to 2030 as follows:

  • 100% of public libraries have an important role. These libraries are prioritized for investment by the State, together with the National Library of Vietnam, public libraries of provinces and centrally run cities, to complete and develop digital infrastructure and digital data; deploying interoperability, sharing resources and library information products according to functions, tasks, cooperation documents;
  • 100% of librarians are trained and retrained to keep their knowledge and skills up to date in order to operate modern libraries.

  • 60% of libraries in the country or more are inspected and managed through the information management system of the management agency;

  • 70% of ancient and rare documents, as well as collections of documents of special historical, cultural, and scientific value collected and managed by important libraries, have been digitized.
