To deploy and put into use of at Least One international land fiber optic cables in Vietnam by 2027

The Minister of Information and Communications (Hanoi, Vietnam) issues Decision 977/QD-BTTTT dated June 14, 2024, approving the Strategy for the development of Vietnam's international fiber optic cable system until 2030, with a vision to 2035.

To deploy and put into use of at Least One international land fiber optic cables in Vietnam by 2027

The tasks for deploying international fiber optic cable lines according to the roadmap by 2027 are as follows:

- Deploy and activate 4 new undersea fiber optic cables, increasing the total capacity to at least 134 Tbps.

- Continue to maintain Singapore, Hong Kong, and Japan as the main Digital Hubs.

- Periodically review and assess the Digital Hubs to devise plans for maintaining/relocating/adding appropriate connection points according to each period.

- Complete and put into use at least one undersea fiber optic cable owned by Vietnam.

- Deploy and put into use at least one international land-based fiber optic cable.

Objectives of Strategy for the Development of Vietnam's International Fiber Optic Cable System by 2030

To be specific, the strategic goals for the development of Vietnam's international fiber optic cable system by 2030 are as follows:

- Deploy and activate a minimum of 10 new undersea fiber optic cable lines with modern technology, increasing the total number of undersea fiber optic cable lines for Vietnam to at least 15 lines with a minimum capacity of 350 Tbps.

- Deploy and activate at least 2 undersea fiber optic cable lines owned by Vietnam, connecting directly to regional Digital Hubs.

- Vietnam's undersea fiber optic cable system is to be deployed harmoniously in all technically feasible directions: connecting to the East Sea towards the North; connecting to the East Sea towards the South; connecting to the southern sea areas.

- Deploy and put into use at least 2 additional international land-based fiber optic cables, ensuring the total capacity of international land-based fiber optic cables reaches at least 15% of the actual usage capacity of the undersea fiber optic cable system.
