According to Vietnam's Decision 208/QD-TTg, converting some fishing occupations that greatly affect resources, the environment, and the ecosystem to fishing occupations that have less impact, or converting a number of fishing vessels whose fishing profession greatly affects resources, the environment, and the ecosystem to other fields besides fishing;

Improving the working environment and ensuring 100% of fishermen who change jobs have stable jobs and a guaranteed income after switching jobs...

At the same time, perform a number of tasks to strengthen the state management of fisheries exploitation, such as:

- Failing to issue written approval for building, converting, leasing, or purchasing fishing vessels engaged in prohibited occupations or restricted from development as prescribed by the law in Vietnam.

Do not issue fishing permits to converted or newly built ships without written approval of the conversion and construction of new fishing vessels.

- Promulgating specific criteria of the locality in granting written approval for the conversion, building, and replacement of local fishing vessels that ensure safety, provide working and resting conditions for employees, use less fuel, and modernize equipment for exploitation and storage on board;

Not adding fishing occupations that have a great impact on aquatic resources, in line with the development orientation of central and local fisheries.

More details can be found in Vietnam's Decision 208/QD-TTg, effective from the date of signing.
