The Ministry of Education and Training of Vietnam issued Official Dispatch 1687/BGDDT-GDTC on April 18, 2023 on strengthening the prevention and control of COVID-19 in schools.

To actively develop a plan to prevent and respond to Covid-19 at schools in Vietnam

The Ministry of Education and Training of Vietnam requires the Departments of Education and Training and educational institutions to proactively develop prevention plans and be ready to respond flexibly and effectively to possible epidemic situations.

In addition, the Ministry of Education and Training of Vietnam also requires the Departments of Education and Training and educational institutions to perform the following tasks:

- Continue to thoroughly understand and strictly implement the direction of the Government, the Prime Minister, the guidance of the Ministry of Health, and the Ministry of Education and Training in the prevention of COVID-19 and other infectious diseases.

- Strengthen communication on disease prevention to raise awareness and change the behavior of children, pupils, students, officials and teachers in protecting the health of themselves, their families, and the community.

Regularly update information on the epidemic situation and recommend school members strictly comply with epidemic prevention requirements such as personal hygiene, school and classroom hygiene, and wearing masks on public transport and at crowded places and events, especially during the upcoming holidays.

- Continue to propagate, mobilize, review, make lists, and coordinate with local health authorities to carry out the vaccination against COVID-19 for children, pupils, and students in order to achieve the goals set by the Government and the Prime Minister.

- Actively and closely coordinate with the Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control, local health authorities in epidemic prevention and control;

Coordinate to monitor and manage the health of school members in order to prevent and detect early cases of disease or suspected disease and prevent the epidemic from spreading in the school.

The Ministry of Education and Trainingof Vietnam proposes that the Departments of Education and Training, Universities, Institutes, and Pedagogical Colleges urgently direct, organize, and strictly implement the reporting regime when there is a complicated epidemic situation as prescribed.
