On April 01, 2020, the Prime Minister of Vietnam issued Decision No. 447/QĐ-TTg on declaration of COVID-19 epidemic.
The Prime Minister officially declared the outbreak of the infectious disease in Vietnam with the name COVID-19 (novel coronavirus acute respiratory disease). The outbreak occurred from January 23, 2020 (date of first confirmed case of Covid-19 infection).
According to Decision No. 447/QĐ-TTg, COVID-19 is a Group-A infectious disease, pandemic and it transmits from human to human through respiratory infection. Concurrently, the Prime Minister also states 10 preventive measures, following the Law on Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases of Vietnam, including:
- Establishment of the National Steering Committee for Epidemic Control.
- Epidemic declaration and reporting.
- Organization of emergency treatment, examination and treatment.
- Organization of quarantine.
- Sanitization in affected areas.
- Implementation of personal protection measures.
