The period for piloting the admission of Vietnamese to play in casinos will be extended from November 4, 2024

Decree 145/2024/ND-CP amends Clause 2, Article 12 of Decree 03/2017/ND-CP regarding casino business, thereby extending the pilot period for Vietnamese to enter casinos. To be specific:

- For the first casino business enterprise authorized by competent authorities to pilot Vietnamese entering, the pilot period shall last until December 31, 2024.

For other casino business enterprises authorized by competent authorities to pilot Vietnamese entering (if any), the pilot period is 3 years from the date of issuance of the Certificate of Eligibility for Casino Business.

- Regarding the conclusion of the pilot period, the enterprise conducting the pilot for Vietnamese entering the casino shall continue until the Government of Vietnam issues a Decree to terminate or to continue allowing Vietnamese to enter casinos.

- The Ministry of Finance shall lead, in cooperation with the Ministry of Public Security, the Ministry of Planning and Investment, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the State Bank of Vietnam, and the People's Committees of provinces and cities where the enterprise is permitted to pilot for Vietnamese to enter casinos, to summarize, evaluate, and report to the Government of Vietnam for the competent authorities to review and decide on terminating or continuing to allow Vietnamese to enter casinos, with the time frame as follows:

+ Before November 30, 2024, for the first casino business enterprise authorized to pilot Vietnamese entering the casino operation point.

+ 60 days before the conclusion of the pilot period for other casino business enterprises authorized by competent authorities (if any).

- Based on the decision of the competent authorities, the Government of Vietnam will issue a Decree to terminate or to permit Vietnamese to enter casinos.
