The Prime Minister of Vietnam issued Official Telegram 441/CD-TTg dated May 22, 2023 on strengthening urgent measures for forest fire prevention and fighting.
In order to proactively prevent and fight forest fires and minimize damage caused by forest fires, the Prime Minister asked the Chairman of the provincial People's Committee to take responsibility regarding forest fire safety in the area and urgently direct the implementation of a number of key and urgent tasks as follows:
- Request People's Committees at all levels and functional agencies to strictly perform management responsibilities for forest fire safety, strengthen inspection and supervision on forest fire safety, consider this a central task, and absolutely not be subjective, negligent, or lose vigilance.
- Develop a plan for forest fire safety to ensure adequate, close to reality, capacity to respond to forest fire situations;
- Organize on duty, assign forces to be on duty 24 hours a day during the dry season and hot days in Vietnam;
- Arrange checkpoints, patrol and guard key areas prone to forest fires, and strictly control people entering and leaving forest areas with a high risk of forest fires;
- Have a plan to be ready and proactively relocate people out of dangerous areas when necessary, ensuring the safety of life and property for the people and the State;
- Expeditiously issue forest fire forecasting levels and forest fire forecasting tables in the area according to the provisions of law;
- Strengthen propaganda and education to raise awareness and responsibility in forest fire safety;
- Inspect, urge, and guide people to control the use of fire in the forest and near the forest, especially the burning and cultivation activities;
