The level of support for forest protection activities from June 1, 2023 in Vietnam

- The average level of support for contracted forest protection in Vietnam: 300,000 VND/ha/year; for contracted coastal forest protection, the maximum support level is 1.5 times the average support level.

- Level of support for protection of natural production forests during forest closure:

+ Forestry company: 300,000 VND/ha/year;

+ Forest management board, commune-level People's Committee: 100,000 VND/ha/year;

+ Households, individuals, communities, and organizations that are allocated natural production forests by the State: 300,000 VND/ha/year.

- Average level of support for management and protection of special-use forests: 100,000 VND/ha/year on the total area of special-use forests assigned to ministries and localities for management; Supported content includes:

+ Hiring or contracting for forest protection contracts with communities in the buffer zone; hire forest guards in the bordering areas. The special-use forest management board shall determine the forest area to be leased and contracted for forest protection;

+ Procurement and repair of equipment for forest management and protection, including equipment for forecasting and warning of forest fires, equipment for forest fire prevention and fighting, and other tools and equipment for forest management and protection;

+ Support forces participating in forest protection and sweeping; support training to raise public awareness on forest protection, forest development, and nature conservation; propagate and educate the community on the law on forestry;

+ Support costs for community development management in the buffer zone, including: travel expenses for guidance, inspection, supervision, and meetings with the People's Committees of communes, villages, and hamlets;

+ Other expenses in accordance with regulations of the law on forestry (if any).

- Support level for communities in buffer zones of special-use forests: 40 million VND/village/year; supported content includes:

+ Support activities to improve production development capacity, such as agricultural extension, forestry extension, support for plant varieties and animal breeds; supporting equipment for processing agricultural and forestry products on a small scale;

+ Support construction materials for public works in village communities such as clean water works, electricity and lighting, communication, village roads, cultural houses, and other works.

- Support level for forest protection at the grassroots level (commune level) in Vietnam: 100,000 VND/ha/year.
