On July 06, 2024, the Government of Vietnam issued Resolution 106/NQ-CP regarding the Proposal to develop the Law amending to some articles of the Law on officers of the Vietnam people’s Army 1999.
The Government of Vietnam to agree all together on the development of the Law amending to some articles of the Law on officers of the Vietnam people’s Army
In the Resolution 106/NQ-CP dated July 06, 2024, the Government of Vietnam appreciates that the Ministry of Defense took the lead, in cooperation with relevant ministries and agencies, in drafting the Proposal for Law Development according to the Law on promulgation of legislative documents 2015.
Basically unanimous with 03 policies in the Proposal for Law Development. The Ministry of Defense (Hanoi, Vietnam) shall study and incorporate the Government of Vietnam's opinions and those of the Government members, ensuring the following requirements:
- Thoroughly assess the impact and clearly explain the necessity of adding the deputy position to the basic positions system of army officers; regulate equivalent positions and titles for deputies and officers without command positions.
- Regarding the policy of raising the service age limit for Vietnam People's Army officers, it is necessary to consider special talents cases to extend the service age limit to avoid wasting trained and experienced human resources; while continuing to research policies to attract and "retain" talent suitable for the characteristics of the Vietnam People's Army, meeting the needs of defense and security development, and ensuring consistency and unity in the legal system.
- Some contents related to policies for officers (such as the conferment of military ranks for graduates trained as reserve officers, policies on housing, salary, and discharge from active service): Continue to research and assess the policy impact according to the Law on Promulgation of legislative documents 2015, ensuring synchronization with related laws (such as housing, land, ...).
