The amended Law on Officers of the Vietnam People's Army in 2024 is Available

The basic positions for officers include:

- Minister of National Defense;

- Chief of the General Staff; Director of the General Political Department;

- Deputy Minister of National Defense;

- Deputy Chief of the General Staff; Deputy Director of the General Political Department;

- Director General Department, Director General, Political Commissar General Department;

Commander, Political Commissar: Military Region, Service Branch, Border Guard, Army Corps;

- Deputy Director General Department, Deputy Director General, Deputy Political Commissar General Department;

Deputy Commander, Deputy Political Commissar: Military Region, Service Branch, Border Guard, Army Corps;

- Commander, Political Commissar: Arm, Naval Region;

- Deputy Commander, Deputy Political Commissar: Arm, Naval Region;

- Division Commander, Division Political Commissar; Commander-in-chief, Political Commissar of Provincial Military Command; Commander-in-chief, Political Commissar of Provincial Border Guard Command;

- Deputy Division Commander, Deputy Division Political Commissar; Deputy Commander-in-chief, Deputy Political Commissar of Provincial Military Command; Deputy Commander-in-chief, Deputy Political Commissar of Provincial Border Guard Command;

Brigade Commander, Brigade Political Commissar;

Promotion in Military Rank, Early Salary Increase for Officers

- Officers may be considered for military rank promotion ahead of the stipulated time in Clause 2, Article 17 of this Law in the following cases:

+ Achieving outstanding achievements in combat or commendation in work;

+ Having excellently fulfilled responsibilities, tasks where the current military rank is lower than the highest military rank prescribed for the position or title the officer is currently holding by two levels or more, or the current military rank is lower than the highest military rank for command or management positions.

- Officers may be considered for an early salary increase if they achieve outstanding combat achievements or are commended in their work.
