Tet 2018: Party Secretariat prohibits giving and receiving gifts to superiors

Directive 16/CT-TW of the Secretariat clearly states the prohibitions, what is not to be done, and what is to be done by local leaders during the 2018 Lunar New Year.

Accordingly:

- Do not organize visits or send New Year greetings to leaders of localities; do not send New Year greetings to superiors and Central authorities;- Strictly prohibit giving or receiving Tet gifts to/from superiors in any form;- Strictly prohibit the use of budget, vehicles, and public assets for personal activities during Tet, festivals, etc.;- Organize fireworks displays during the Tet holiday based on the conditions and capabilities of localities in the spirit of thrift and absolute safety, and do not use state budget.

Simultaneously, the Central Committee of the Communist Party requests party committees, party organizations, and governments at all levels to:

- Implement policies for the poor, those in exceptionally difficult circumstances, and people in areas severely affected by natural disasters;- Organize visits to wounded soldiers, sick soldiers, and the families of martyrs, revolutionary elders, Heroic Vietnamese Mothers, etc.
