The Ministry of Health has just issued Decision 870/QD-BYT on provisional technical guidelines for splash-resistant, antibacterial fabric masks.
Fabric masks must meet the following general technical requirements:
- They must not cause skin allergies for the wearer;- The surface must be clean, free of lint, and without visual defects;- The ear loops must be securely constructed;- The design and size must ensure that the mask covers the nose and mouth, and the edges of the mask must fit snugly against the wearer’s face without creating gaps.
Additionally, fabric masks must meet the following structural requirements: They must have at least 3 layers: the outermost layer must be water-resistant and capable of blocking respiratory droplets, or have a combination of antibacterial properties; the remaining layers must include a filter layer and an antibacterial layer (the antibacterial layer can be made from antibacterial fabric, nano silver, activated carbon, or equivalent materials); and ear loops.
