Technical procedures for greenhouse gas inventory in the livestock sector at sector level in Vietnam from January 25, 2025

From January 25, 2025, the technical procedures for greenhouse gas inventory in the livestock sector will be conducted as follows:

- Identify the scope of the greenhouse gas inventory in the sector.

- Collect activity data for the greenhouse gas inventory in the sector.

- Select greenhouse gas emission factors for the sector.

- Identify the inventory methods and calculate greenhouse gases in the sector.

- Implement quality control and ensure quality assurance for the greenhouse gas inventory in the sector.

- Assess the uncertainty in the greenhouse gas inventory of the sector.

- Recalculate the results of the greenhouse gas inventory in the sector.

- Develop a Greenhouse Gas Inventory Report for the sector.

The greenhouse gas inventory in the livestock sector under the agriculture sector will include:

- Inventory of greenhouse gases for physical, chemical, and biochemical processes of livestock:

+ Greenhouse gas emissions due to the digestion of livestock feed;

+ Greenhouse gas emissions due to livestock manure;

- Inventory of greenhouse gases from energy use in livestock:

+ Greenhouse gas emissions from activities using electricity in the livestock process;

+ Greenhouse gas emissions from activities using fossil fuels in the livestock process.

More details can be found in Circular 19/2024/TT-BNNPTNT, effective from January 25, 2025.

Measurement, reporting, and verification activities for greenhouse gas emissions reduction and inventory in the livestock sector approved before the effective date of Circular 19/2024/TT-BNNPTNT shall be implemented according to the previously approved content.
