This is an important directive mentioned in Directive 729-CT/BCS of the Communist Party's Committee of the Supreme People's Court regarding the Celebration of Tet in 2018.
Vietnamese officials and public employees in the judicial sector are not allowed to visit or extend New Year greetings to local court leaders; local courts are not allowed to extend New Year greetings to higher authorities or the leaders of the Supreme People's Court.
At the same time, the Communist Party Committee strictly prohibits actions such as:
- Strictly prohibiting the gifting of Tet presents to higher-ranking leaders, and the higher authorities "taking advantage" of subordinates in any form;- Strictly prohibiting the use of budget, public vehicles, or public assets for personal activities during Tet or festivals.
Thus, visiting and extending New Year greetings are very normal activities; however, Vietnamese officials and public employees in the judicial sector must pay special attention, as all acts of visiting and extending New Year greetings to leaders, whether for the purpose or not, are strictly prohibited.
Directive 729-CT/BCS was issued on December 28, 2017.
