Directive 39/CT-TTg on strengthening the work of prevention and combat against crimes and legal violations related to resistance against law enforcement officers was issued on October 24, 2017.
The Prime Minister of the Government of Vietnam assigns the Ministry of Justice to carry out the following 02 key tasks:
- Research, review shortcomings, limitations, and propose adjustments to legal regulations on public service execution, crime prevention, and legal violations;- Provide specific guidance on the right to use weapons and supporting tools to suppress acts against public officials performing their duties or for legitimate self-defense.
At the same time, the Prime Minister assigns the Supreme People’s Procuracy (VKSNDTC) and the Supreme People’s Court (TANDTC) the following tasks:
- Closely coordinate procedural activities concerning several key cases of acts against public officials performing their duties;- Strictly adjudicate individuals who disregard the law, endanger health and life, or cause public officials to sacrifice their lives, to serve as a deterrent, educate, and preventively safeguard the general public.
Directive 39/CT-TTg is effective from the date of signing.
