Strategy for Preventing Covid-19 in Healthcare Facilities

Recently, the Ministry of Health issued Decision 468/QD-BYT regarding the issuance of Guidelines for the prevention and control of infection of acute respiratory diseases caused by the Coronavirus 2019 (Covid-19) in medical examination and treatment facilities.

Guidelines issued accompanying this Decision clearly outline the infection control strategy intended to prevent or limit the spread of Covid-19 within healthcare facilities, including:

- Implementing standard precautions (PNC) for all patients;- Early identification, isolation, and source control of infections;- Adhering to standard prevention measures (PNC), including preventing transmission via droplets and contact routes. Applying airborne transmission prevention measures in areas where aerosol-generating procedures are performed;- Administrative measures;- Environmental and technical control measures.

Among these, one of the principles for preventing Covid-19 transmission is to implement standard precautions combined with contact and droplet precautions in the examination and care of individuals infected or suspected of being infected with Covid-19.
