On December 25, 2024, the Government of Vietnam issued Decree 164/2024/ND-CP stipulating the organization and operation of the inspection of People's Public Security.

Standards for appointment to the rank of chief inspector in the People's Public Security in Vietnam from February 10, 2025

The standards for appointment to the chief inspector rank in the People's Public Security of Vietnam are stipulated as follows:

- Meet the standards specified in Article 39 of the Inspection Law 2022. To be specific:

+ Classified as performing duties well or better in the working year preceding the appointment; not under disciplinary action or under consideration for disciplinary action;

+ Have a good understanding of law and professional work in the Public Security sector; possess knowledge of state management; be able to use information technology and foreign languages suitable for work requirements or know an ethnic minority language in areas with a large ethnic minority population;

+ Hold a university degree in Public Security or higher, or another university degree with additional Public Security professional training.

- Hold an intermediate degree in political theory, political-administrative theory, or higher, or have a certification of intermediate political theory or higher from a competent authority as prescribed.

- Possess the chief inspector professional training certificate.

- During the time of holding the inspector rank or equivalent, have been directly involved in advising with results in one of the following tasks: summarizing or concluding on specific topics; leading or participating in drafting at least 01 legal document or a topic, project, proposal, or scientific research program of local or higher level related to Public Security work or inspection work; being the editor or participating in compiling, appraising training materials for Public Security professional training or inspection professional training.

- Have held the inspector rank or equivalent for a minimum of 9 years or have held an intermediate or equivalent rank. For officers with the rank of Captain or higher, there must be a minimum of 1 year holding the inspector rank.
