Recently, the Central Organization Commission of Vietnam issued Guidance No. 36-HD/BTCTW on personnel of the National Assembly XV and People’s Councils of all levels for the term of 2021 - 2026.
According to the Guidance No. 36-HD/BTCTW, officials and public employees who stand for election for the first time must be old enough to participate in 02 or more National Assembly courses or at least one full course in general, male candidates must be born from February 1966, female candidates must be born from January 1971 onwards. A delegant of the National Assembly in charge of re-election (except for delegant of the Standing Committee of the National Assembly) must be of working age at least half of the term (30 months) or more by May 2021, male born from August 1963, female from July 1968 onwards.
Particularly for National Assembly candidates who are Army and Public Security officers, they must comply with the age limits specified in the Law on Officers of the Vietnam People's Army and the Law on People's Public Security of Vietnam. For cases of higher candidate age, such as members of the Party Central Committee, leaders of associations according to Conclusion No. 58-KL/TW dated September 12, 2019 of the Secretariat, competent authorities responsible for their management shall consider and make a decision.
