Specialized tasks of motor vehicle inspectors in Vietnam from January 01, 2025

A road vehicle inspector (hereinafter referred to as the inspector) is a person who has been issued an inspector certificate to carry out specialized work in the inspection and certification of motor vehicles, specialized motor vehicles, and motor vehicle parts.

The specialized tasks of the inspector include specialized inspection tasks and specialized certification tasks.

- Specialized inspection tasks:

+ Inspecting the technical safety and environmental protection of motor vehicles (hereinafter referred to as motor vehicle inspection);

+ Inspecting the technical safety and environmental protection of specialized motor vehicles (hereinafter referred to as specialized motor vehicle inspection);

+ Inspecting emissions from motorcycles and mopeds.

- Specialized certification tasks:

+ Checking and certifying the technical safety quality and environmental protection of motor vehicles, specialized motor vehicles, and motor vehicle parts (hereinafter referred to as quality inspection and certification);

+ Inspecting and evaluating the assurance of technical safety quality and environmental protection of motor vehicles, specialized motor vehicles, and motor vehicle parts at manufacturing and assembly facilities; testing and certification facilities; warranty and maintenance facilities for motor vehicles (hereinafter referred to as quality assurance evaluation);

+ Testing motor vehicles and specialized motor vehicles;

+ Testing motor vehicle parts;

+ Testing emissions from motor vehicles;

+ Testing energy consumption of motor vehicles.

More details can be found in Circular 45/2024/TT-BGTVT effective from January 1, 2025; point d, clause 1, Article 14 of Circular 45/2024/TT-BGTVT shall be applied from January 1, 2026, for inspectors performing specialized inspection tasks for motor vehicles.
