On May 11, 2021, the Ministry of Health of Vietnam issued Official Dispatch 3897/BYT-KHTC on unifying sources of the fund to pay the cost of COVID-19 testing for hospitals to increase testing.
According to the Official Dispatch, the Ministry of Health of Vietnam proposes to the Ministry of Finance of Vietnam to agree as follows:
- For public health facilities in Vietnam:
Medical staff, patients' family (if allowed to stay for care), and patients without health insurance cards will be paid by the state budget according to current state budget decentralization.
Patients with health insurance cards will be paid by the health insurance fund in accordance with the law on health insurance. The co-payment is guaranteed by the state budget according to the current state budget decentralization.
- For private health care facilities in Vietnam:
Medical staff, family members of patients (if they are allowed to stay), and patients without health insurance cards will be guaranteed by private health care facilities.
Patients with health insurance cards will be paid by the health insurance fund in accordance with the law on health insurance. The co-payment is guaranteed by the private health care provider.
