On October 8, 2024, the Minister of Industry and Trade of Vietnam issued Circular 18/2024/TT-BCT prescribing the list of scraps subject to suspension of temporary importation and merchanting trade in Vietnam.
As per Circular 18/2024/TT-BCT, certain commodities are subject to suspension of temporary importation and merchanting trade in Vietnam, including:
- Chapter 52 - Commodity Code 5202: Cotton waste (including waste yarn and recycled cotton).
- Chapter 55 - Commodity Code 5505: Waste (including waste fibers, waste yarn, and recycled materials) from man-made fibers.
- Chapter 63 - Commodity Code 6310: Waste fabric, pieces of cordage, rope (cordage), used or new strings, ropes and cables, and waste from fabric waste, cordage, strings, ropes, or cables made from textile materials.
- Chapter 70 - Commodity Code 7001: Cullet and other glass waste and scraps, excluding glass from cathode ray tube tubes or other active glass under heading 85.49; glass in block form.
- Chapter 72 - Commodity Code 7204: Waste and scrap of iron; ingots of re-melted scrap iron or steel.
- Chapter 74 - Commodity Code 7404: Waste and scrap of copper.
- Chapter 75 - Commodity Code 7503: Waste and scrap of nickel.
- Chapter 76 - Commodity Code 7602: Waste and scrap of aluminum.
- Chapter 79 - Commodity Code 7902: Waste and scrap of zinc.
- Chapter 80 - Commodity Code 8002: Waste and scrap of tin.
