This is a noteworthy new point mentioned in Decree 143/2017/ND-CP stipulating the protection of maritime works.

Scope of protection for port structures combined with mooring buoys is calculated from the center of the mooring buoy and the outermost edge of the structure to the outer limit of the water area in front of the port and to the remaining sides.

To be specific:

- A minimum of 60m or 50m corresponding to structures with a designed berth bottom elevation or mooring buoys with water depth ranging from the berth bottom to the designed low water level greater than 20m or from 16m to 20m;- A minimum of 40m or 30m or 20m corresponding to structures with a designed berth bottom elevation or mooring buoys with water depth ranging from the berth bottom to the designed low water level from 12m to 16m or from 8m to 12m or less than 8m.

More details can be found in Decree 143/2017/ND-CP effective from February 1, 2018, replacing Decree 109/2014/ND-CP.
