Clause 7 Article 1 of Circular 30/2024/TT-BTNMT has replaced Article 13 of Circular 06/2015/TT-BTNMT with regulations on water sample collection and analysis in Vietnam. To be specific:

(1) For Group I Hazardous Minerals:

- Requirements for location and quantity of water samples:

+ Water samples in the investigation and assessment area are collected following the regulations in Article 5 of Circular 06/2015/TT-BTNMT.

+ The input and output water samples of the investigation and assessment area are collected at upstream and downstream locations. One sample is taken at each location.

- Sampling and preserving water samples: content and techniques are carried out according to TCVN:12295:2018 Environmental geological investigation and assessment - Sampling methods for measuring radioactivity on high-resolution gamma spectrometry;

- Water sample analysis: conducted according to TCVN 12296:2018 Environmental geological investigation and assessment - Methods for determining activity (226Ra, 232Th, 40K) on high-resolution gamma spectrometry.

(2) For Group II Hazardous Minerals:

- Requirements for location and quantity of water samples:

+ Input water samples are collected at the upstream position of the investigation and assessment area. Quantity: 01 sample;

+ Output water samples are collected at the downstream position of the investigation and assessment area. Quantity: 01 sample;

+ Water samples in the investigation and assessment area are collected following the regulations in Article 5 of Circular 06/2015/TT-BTNMT;

- Collecting and preserving water samples: content and techniques are performed according to TCVN 6663-1:2011 (ISO 5667-1:2006); Water quality - Sampling - Part 1: Guidance on the design of sampling programs and techniques; TCVN 6663-3:2016 ISO 5667-3:2011 Water quality - Sampling - Part 3: Preservation and handling of water samples; TCVN 6663-6:2018 ISO 5667-3:2011 Water quality - Sampling Part 6: Guidance for sampling rivers and streams;

- Water sample analysis: conducted according to QCVN 08:2023/BTNMT National technical regulation on surface water quality.
