Requirements for Professional Activities of the Department of Microbiology

According to Circular 33/2016/TT-BYT stipulating the organization and operation of microbiological testing in hospitals, the professional activities of the Microbiology Department must ensure the following requirements:

- Arranged separately or located in the testing area, convenient for professional activities:- The department rooms are arranged continuously, unidirectionally, and rationally to ensure professional work and biosafety, avoiding contamination;- Facility for receiving specimens, and disinfection area;- There are restrooms and showers with sufficient clean water and hot water for personnel to perform hygiene and disinfection before leaving;- There is a permanent location available to receive and conduct emergency tests.- Designed and constructed to meet biosafety standards as prescribed in Decree 103/2016/ND-CP.

Circular 33/2016/TT-BYT takes effect from November 03, 2016, and abolishes Section 42 on the Head of Microbiology Department in Decision 1895/1997/BYT-QD.
