Requirements for connection to the urban drainage system

The Ministry of Construction issued Circular 15/2021/TT-BXD dated December 15, 2021 guiding technical infrastructure works for wastewater collection and drainage in urban areas and concentrated residential areas.

Accordingly, the drainage system connection requirements are as follows:

- Urban areas, concentrated residential areas have their own drainage systems and concentrated urban wastewater treatment plants, domestic wastewater of drainage households is directly connected to the junction box.

- Sewage drains of drainage households must be connected to junction boxes or other wastewater drainage works in areas where junction boxes are not available.

The storm water drains of the drainage households must be permanently connected to the rainwater drainage junction boxes, canals, ditches or regional storm water drains;

- Untreated wastewater must be connected to the collection sewer of the drainage system, not allowed to seep underground or flow into other water sources;

- Wastewater from production, business and service establishments in urban centers and concentrated residential areas must be collected and preliminarily treated to meet regulations before connecting to wastewater collection and drainage works;

- Wastewater after on-site treatment of production, business and service establishments in urban centers and concentrated residential areas must meet technical regulations on environment or requirements on environmental protection...
