Replacement of 14 types of nationality documents effective from June 6, 2024 in Vietnam

On June 06, 2024, the Minister of Justice of Vietnam issued Circular 04/2024/TT-BTP amending Circular 02/2020/TT-BTP guiding the usage and management of nationality registration book templates and nationality documents, and Circular 04/2020/TT-BTP guiding The Civil Status Law and Decree 123/2015/ND-CP guiding The Civil Status Law.

Replacement of 14 types of nationality documents effective from June 6, 2024 in Vietnam

Circular 04/2024/TT-BTP will replace the types of nationality documents specified in Article 4 of Circular 02/2020/TT-BTP, including:

(1) Replacing the Application for Vietnamese Citizenship (TP/QT-2020-DXNQT.1) with the Application for Vietnamese Citizenship (TP/QT-2024-DXNQT.1);

(2) Replacing the Application for Vietnamese Citizenship used by guardians/legal representatives to apply for Vietnamese citizenship on behalf of the person under guardianship/representation (TP/QT-2020-DXNQT.2) with the Application for Vietnamese Citizenship used by legal representatives to apply for Vietnamese citizenship on behalf of the represented person (TP/QT-2024-DXNQT.2);

(3) Replacing the Application for Re-acquisition of Vietnamese Nationality (TP/QT-2020-DXTLQT.1) with the Application for Re-acquisition of Vietnamese Nationality (TP/QT-2024-DXTLQT.1);

(4) Replacing the Application for Re-acquisition of Vietnamese Nationality used by guardians/legal representatives to apply for re-acquisition of Vietnamese citizenship on behalf of the person under guardianship/representation (TP/QT-2020-DXTLQT.2) with the Application for Re-acquisition of Vietnamese Nationality used by legal representatives to apply for re-acquisition of Vietnamese citizenship on behalf of the represented person (TP/QT-2024-DXTLQT.2);

(5) Replacing the Application for renunciation of Vietnamese Citizenship (TP/QT-2020-DXTQT.1) with the Application for renunciation of Vietnamese Citizenship (TP/QT-2024-DXTQT.1);

(6) Replacing the Application for renunciation of Vietnamese Citizenship used by guardians/legal representatives to apply for renunciation of Vietnamese citizenship on behalf of the person under guardianship/representation (TP/QT-2020-DXTQT.2) with the Application for renunciation of Vietnamese Citizenship used by legal representatives to apply for renunciation of Vietnamese citizenship on behalf of the represented person (TP/QT-2024-DXTQT.2);

(7) Replacing the Biography Declaration Form (TP/QT-2020-BKLL) with the Biography Declaration Form (TP/QT-2024-BKLL);

(8) Replacing the Application Form for Registration of Vietnamese Nationality Determination (TP/QT-2020-TKXDCQTVN) with the Application Form for Vietnamese Nationality Determination Registration (TP/QT-2024-TKXDCQTVN);

(9) Replacing the Application Form for Issuance of Certificate of Vietnamese Nationality (TP/QT-2020-TKXNCQTVN) with the Application Form for Issuance of Certificate of Vietnamese Nationality (TP/QT-2024-TKXNCQTVN.1);

(10) Replacing the Application Form for Certification of Vietnamese Origin (TP/QT-2020-TKXNNGVN) with the Application Form for Certification of Vietnamese Origin (TP/QT-2024-TKXNNGVN.1);

(11) Replacing the Extract for Registration of Vietnamese Nationality Determination (TP/QT-2020-TLXDCQTVN) with the Extract for Registration of Vietnamese Nationality Determination (TP/QT-2024-TLXDCQTVN);

(12) Replacing the Certificate of Vietnamese Nationality (TP/QT-2020-XNCQTVN) with the Certificate of Vietnamese Nationality (TP/QT-2024-XNCQTVN);

(13) Replacing the Certificate of Vietnamese Origin (TP/QT-2020-XNNGVN) with the Certificate of Vietnamese Origin (TP/QT-2024-XNNGVN);

(14) Replacing the List of Persons Proposed to Address Nationality Matters (TP/QT-2020-DS) with the List of Persons Proposed to Address Nationality Matters (TP/QT-2024-DS).
