Remote medical examination and treatment in Vietnam: To prohibit act of sharing the patient’s personal information

Below is one of the important contents specified in Decision 4054/QD-BYT on promulgating interim guidelines and regulations for organization of remote medical examination and treatment consultations and advice in Vietnam, recently issued by the Ministry of Health.

Measures to limit sharing of patient's personal information during remote medical examination and treatment in Vietnam are specified in the Guidelines issued with Decision 4054/QD-BYT including:

- Do not share the patient’s personal information such as their full name, address, images of their face and body or information that can be used to identify the patient in any shape or form (images, documents, audio recordings, etc.).

- In case a consultation requires the patient’s presence, take technical measures to cover or blur the patient’s face.

- Do not live stream teleconsultations on social network sites or in any other form that might reveal personal information, face and health condition of the patient and teleconsultation participants.

More details can be found in Decision 4054/QD-BYT, which comes into force from September 22, 2020.
