Pursuant to the Inspection of Quality and Food Safety for Imported Salt

This is the content stipulated in Circular 39/2018/TT-BNNPTNT providing guidance on the inspection of quality and food safety of imported salt under the management responsibility of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.

The inspection of the quality of imported salt is based on certification results and conformity assessment in compliance with the national standard TCVN 9640-2013 for industrial salt or national technical regulations on industrial salt as stipulated in Sub-Item b, Point 2, Clause 3, Article 1 of Decree 74/2018/ND-CP.

Regarding the food safety inspection for imported salt, it will be based on the self-declared product statement as regulated in Article 4 and Article 5 of Decree 15/2018/ND-CP and Clause 1, Article 3 of Decree 155/2018/ND-CP, specifically:

- Edible salt (table salt): The self-declared product statement in compliance with the national technical regulation QCVN 9-1:2011/BYT;- Refined salt: The self-declared product statement in compliance with the national standard TCVN 9639-2013 for refined salt and the national technical regulation QCVN 8-2:2011/BYT on the limits of heavy metal contamination in food.
