Publication of Safety Requirements for Electrically-Powered Children's Toys

Circular 09/2019/TT-BKHCN issued by the Ministry of Science and Technology regarding the “National Technical Regulation on Safety for Children's Toys” was promulgated on September 30, 2019.

Organizations and individuals involved in the production, importation, distribution, and retail of children's toys, as well as state management agencies, must comply with safety requirements for children's toys, including safety requirements concerning physical and mechanical properties, flammability, chemistry, and especially safety requirements for children's toys using electricity, specifically:

- Children's toys must not use a power source with a nominal voltage exceeding 24 V, and no part of the toy should have a nominal or instantaneous voltage exceeding 24 V;- Components within children's toys that are connected or can come into contact with a power source exceeding the aforementioned limit, as well as conductors and electrical cables connected to these components, must be properly insulated and protected to prevent electrical risks.
