On September 19, 2024, the Drug Administration of Vietnam issued Official Dispatch 3141/QLD-MP on enhancing cosmetic management in Vietnam.
Proposal to enhance cosmetic management in Vietnam from September 19, 2024
According to Official Dispatch 3141/QLD-MP dated September 19, 2024, the Drug Administration of Vietnam recommends the Health Departments of provinces and centrally affiliated cities in Vietnam:
- Strengthen the inspection and supervision of the implementation of legal regulations on cosmetic management for cosmetic production and trading businesses in the area in Vietnam;
- Actively coordinate closely with the local 389 Steering Committee, the Market Management Department, and relevant local authorities to enhance the inspection and supervision of cosmetics circulating in the market. This should include focusing on inspecting cosmetic production and trading activities on e-commerce platforms and social networks such as Facebook, TikTok, Zalo, Youtube, etc., to detect and promptly handle illicit production and trading activities, counterfeit cosmetics, cosmetics circulating without registration numbers, and cosmetics of unknown origin; advertisements of cosmetics with features and uses exceeding the inherent features and nature of the product, not conforming to the declared features and uses;
- Strictly handle and penalize organizations and individuals violating in the production and sale of cosmetics according to current regulations. Recall and destroy all counterfeit cosmetics, cosmetics of unknown origin, substandard cosmetics, and those unsafe for users.
