On November 6, 2024, the Prime Minister of Vietnam issued Decision 1337/QD-TTg regarding the Plan for implementing the Planning of Central Highlands Region of Vietnam for the period 2021-2030, with a vision towards 2050.
The Prime Minister of the Government of Vietnam has issued the Plan for implementing the Planning of Central Highlands Region in Vietnam for the period 2021-2030, with a vision towards 2050 with the following requirements:
- Ensure compliance and inheritance of action programs, implementation plans for national-level planning, and approved public investment plans; ensure interconnectedness, consistency, without overlap or conflict among tasks, programs, projects of various sectors and localities.
- Ensure feasibility, flexibility, and suitability with the socialist-oriented market economy institution and the context of international integration.
- Maximally mobilize resources and participation of economic sectors to sustainably develop the Central Highlands region; allocate resources with focus and emphasis suitable to the capacity to mobilize capital; harmoniously combine resources, with public investment leading social investment capital to create breakthrough development, promote the transformation of the development model of the region and localities towards fast, sustainable economic growth, harmoniously combining economic, cultural, and social development, protecting resources, environment closely linked with national defense, security and foreign affairs; ensuring and developing the comprehensive socio-economic life for ethnic minority communities; promoting unity and cultural exchange across the population, building a great national unity bloc among ethnic groups.
- Restructure the regional economy prioritizing the development of green economy, circular economy sectors; transition from agricultural production to agricultural economy; develop a high-efficiency agricultural economy, based on scientific-technological foundation, innovation, digital transformation; form some large-scale agricultural products with international brand linked with processing centers; become an attractive destination for domestic and international tourists suitable to the socio-economic development strategy of the country, region, and higher-level plans.
- Emphasize the initiative, creativity, and flexibility of localities in implementation; intensify decentralization, delegation to localities to invest in infrastructure, develop advantageous sectors such as: agriculture, tourism, agricultural product processing industry, renewable energy, bauxite mining and processing industry, alumin, aluminum.
- Intensify investment in synchronous, gradually modern infrastructure; focus on developing transport infrastructure, digital infrastructure as the driving force for regional development; strengthen connectivity with the Southeast region, provinces of the Northern Central Coastal sub-region and South Central Coastal sub-region, seaports, major economic centers of the country and countries in the Mekong Sub-region, the Cambodia-Laos-Vietnam Development Triangle region, and ASEAN countries.
