Promulgation of the national statistical indicator system on seas and islands in Vietnam

On January 2, 2025, the Minister of Planning and Investment of Vietnam issued Circular 01/2025/TT-BKHDT, stipulating the set of national statistical indicators on seas and islands, and the set of national strong sea evaluation indicators.

Promulgation of the national statistical indicator system on seas and islands in Vietnam

The national statistical indicators on seas and islands and the set of indicators for evaluating a strong maritime nation encompass statistics related to multiple sectors, fields, and regional connections concerning the economy, society, and the marine environment. They aim to provide data and assess the sustainable maritime economic development of Vietnam.

The national statistical indicators on seas and islands and the set of indicators for evaluating a strong maritime nation in Vietnam include:

- List of national statistical indicators on seas and islands comprising 53 statistical indicators as stipulated in Appendix I attached to Circular 01/2025/TT-BKHDT.

- List of indicators for evaluating a strong maritime nation comprising 28 statistical indicators marked in the "indicators for evaluating a strong maritime nation" column as stipulated in Appendix I attached to Circular 01/2025/TT-BKHDT.

- The content of national statistical indicators on seas and islands and indicators for evaluating a strong maritime nation is stipulated in Appendix II attached to Circular 01/2025/TT-BKHDT.

This set of indicators applies to agencies, organizations, and individuals providing statistical information, producing statistical information, and using statistical information regarding seas and islands and evaluating a strong maritime nation.

The Ministry of Planning and Investment (General Statistics Office) will take the lead, cooperate with related units to collect statistical information on national statistical indicators on seas and islands and indicators for evaluating a strong maritime nation, ensure the provision of comprehensive, accurate, and prompt statistical data that fulfills international comparison requirements;

Application of information technology in the process of storing and exploiting statistical data on seas and islands and evaluating a strong maritime nation;
