Promulgating the minimum hourly wage applicable from July 1, 2022 in Vietnam

On June 12, 2022, the Government issued the Decree 38/2022/NĐ-CP stipulate the minimum wage for employees working under labor contracts in Vietnam.

According to this Decree, for the first time, the Government promulgated the minimum hourly wage for workers in Vietnam  working for employers in 4 regions as follows:

- Region I: VND 22,500/hour;

- Region II: 20,000 VND/hour;

- Region III: 17,500 VND/hour;

- Region IV: 15,600 VND/hour.

The minimum hourly wage in Vietnam is the lowest wage as the basis for agreement and payment for employees applying the hourly payment method, ensuring that the wage according to the job or title of the employee working in an hour and completing the agreed labor norms or work must not be lower than the minimum hourly wage.

The list of areas of zone I, zone II, zone III and zone IV in Vietnam  is specified in the Appendix issued together with Decree 38/2022/ND-CP.

Decree 38/2022/ND-CP takes effect from July 1, 2022 and replaces Decree 90/2019/ND-CP.
