Recently, the Ministry of Justice issued Circular 03/2020/TT-BTP promulgating the Code of Professional Conduct for Legal Aid.
Issued along with this Circular are the Legal Aid Professional Code of Ethics effective from June 15, 2020.
According to this Code, legal aid providers must keep confidential information about the case, legal aid activities, and the individuals receiving legal aid that they become aware of during the legal aid process, even after the case or legal aid activity has concluded, except in cases where there is written consent from the individual receiving legal aid or if a different provision is stipulated by law.
Moreover, legal aid providers are not allowed to use the information obtained during the legal aid process to disadvantage the individuals receiving legal aid, disrupt public order and safety, or negatively affect social ethics.
