On November 20, 2024, the Minister of Education and Training of Vietnam issued Circular 17/2024/TT-BGDDT amending and supplementing certain Articles of the Regulation on standards and procedures for developing and revising the general education program; the organization and operation of the National Council for Appraisal of the General Education Program, promulgated together with Circular 14/2017/TT-BGDDT.
The Committee for developing general education programs includes:
- The Committee for developing general education programs is established by a decision from the Head of the Steering Committee.
- The Committee for developing general education programs comprises the subCommittee for developing the overall program and subCommittees for developing individual subjects. Each subject subCommittee includes a Head and members; each subCommittee must have at least 5 people. The overall program subCommittee consists of a Head and members who are the Heads of the subject subCommittees. The Committee includes members who are scientists, education experts, lecturers, and teachers.
- The Committee for developing general education programs is tasked with developing the overall program and the individual subject programs according to the procedure outlined below.
- The Committee for developing general education programs is accountable to the Steering Committee and the Minister of Education and Training for the quality of the general education program.
- The operational regulations of the Committee for developing general education programs are issued by the Head of the Steering Committee.
The procedure for developing general education programs is as follows:
- Develop a draft of the overall program and drafts of the individual subject programs.
- Collect feedback on the draft of the overall program and the drafts of the individual subject programs.
- Refine the draft of the overall program and the drafts of the individual subject programs.
- Organize a pilot implementation of the draft program, focusing on new content, methods, forms of teaching organization, and conditions for implementing the program.
The pilot implementation of the draft general education program follows the plan approved by the Head of the Steering Committee.
- Organize the appraisal of the overall program and individual subject programs according to the provisions in Articles 7, 8, 9, 10, 11 of Circular 17/2024/TT-BGDDT.
- Collect feedback on the draft general education program after appraisal.
- Continue to appraise, refine the draft program after appraisal, and officially promulgate the general education program.
