Price of electricity transmission in 2024 in Vietnam

According to Decision 3420/QD-BCT, the price of electricity transmission in 2024 is 83.07 VND/kWh (excluding value-added tax).

The period for applying the stated electricity transmission price is from January 1, 2024, to December 31, 2024.

Based on the aforementioned transmission price, Vietnam Electricity is to instruct the Electric Power Trading Company and the National Power Transmission Corporation to implement the electricity transmission price in accordance with Circular 02/2017/TT-BCT, Circular 14/2022/TT-BCT, and relevant legal provisions.

Vietnam Electricity and the National Power Transmission Corporation bear full responsibility for the legality and compliance with relevant legalities concerning the 500 kV Transmission Line Circuit 3 Quang Trach - Pho Noi.

In the event that authorities with jurisdiction express differing opinions related to the 500 kV Transmission Line Circuit 3 Quang Trach - Pho Noi, Vietnam Electricity and the National Power Transmission Corporation are responsible for compiling, updating the data, recalculating, and reporting to the Ministry of Industry and Trade for review and decision.

Methods for determining electricity transmission price in Vietnam

According to Article 3 of Circular 02/2017/TT-BCT (amended and supplemented by Circular 14/2022/TT-BCT), the annual electricity transmission price is applied uniformly nationwide, irrespective of electricity transmission distance and points of electricity reception and delivery.

The electricity transmission price is determined annually based on reasonable and legitimate expenses for the power transmission activities of the Transmission Unit, with a return on equity determined according to the retail electricity price plan currently applied at the time of calculating the transmission price or by the decision of a competent authority.

The transmission price for year N is determined based on the total allowable transmission revenue for year N of the National Power Transmission Corporation and the projected total transmitted electricity energy for year N.

* Year N is the calendar year starting from January 1 to December 31 of the year in which the price is applied.

Decision 3420/QD-BCT was issued on December 20, 2024.
