On November 6, 2024, the Prime Minister of the Government of Vietnam issued Directive 41/CT-TTg regarding the focused and decisive implementation of comprehensive measures to prevent and control African Swine Fever. This includes the requirement to prevent African Swine Fever and ensure the food supply for the Festival of Lunar New Year holiday in 2025 in Vietnam.
In order to promptly and effectively curb the African Swine Fever, restore production, and ensure food supply, the Prime Minister of the Government of Vietnam requests the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development to take the lead, in cooperation with other ministries, sectors, and localities, to focus on implementing the tasks stipulated in Directive 41/CT-TTg in 2024 as follows:
- Closely monitor the situation, and proactively direct and implement measures to ensure food supply before, during, and after the Festival of Lunar New Year holiday in 2025.
- Focus on directing, organizing guidance, urging, and inspecting the prevention and control of animal diseases, especially African Swine Fever; proactively and closely monitor the disease situation; promptly detect, warn, and direct the thorough resolution of outbreaks, preventing widespread transmission; direct and guide localities and enterprises to successfully establish disease-free areas and facilities for export purposes.
- Allocate funds and resources for effectively implementing the National Plan for the Prevention and Control of African Swine Fever for the 2020 - 2025 period according to assigned responsibilities and authorities, and urge localities to promptly approve, allocate funds, and organize the implementation of the contents of the National Plan for the Prevention and Control of African Swine Fever for the 2020 – 2025 period.
- Proactively cooperate with international organizations and countries in sharing and supporting Vietnam in preventing and controlling African Swine Fever.
