Politburo of Vietnam requests implementation of investment in large-scale urban railways

On February 23, 2024, the Politburo of Vietnam promulgated Conclusion No. 72-KL/TW on continuing the implementation of Resolution No. 13-NQ/TW 2012 of the 11th CPV Central Committee on the consistent infrastructure development to turn Vietnam into a modern industrialized country fundamentally.

Specifically, the Politburo of Vietnam requests prioritization of investment in the completion of the North-South expressway in the East, East-West expressway axes, and multimodal transportation routes according to planning; international airports; infrastructures of major seaports and inland waterways with great transport demands; projects on North-South high-speed railways and Lao Cai - Hanoi - Hai Phong, Lang Son - Hanoi, Mong Cai (Quang Ninh) - Hai Phong, Ho Chi Minh City - Can Tho, Bien Hoa - Vung Tau, and Thu Thiem - Long Thanh routes. 

Continue to invest in urban railways and subways with a large transportation scale in Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, and other major cities.

Consistently develop and diversify types of power sources and appropriately restructure and ensure the safety of systems and reasonable prices; develop sources of renewable energy, new energy, and clean energy in conformity with the economic development conditions and qualifications in each period.

Upgrade and develop a system of key reservoirs, proactively prevent and manage natural disasters, floods, landslides, drought, and saltwater intrusion, protect the environment, and adapt to climate change

Focus on developing digital infrastructures with advanced and modern technologies; consistently develop national databases, major databases, and major data centers; ensure information safety and security.

Improve the quality of the development of the infrastructures of industrial and economic zones ecologically and sustainably.

Prioritize investment in traffic infrastructure works, belt roads, and projects concerning water drainage, wastewater treatment, and flood resistance in major urban areas; invest in concentrated solid waste treatment facilities with consistent and modern technologies.
