On December 10, 2024, the Government of Vietnam issued Decree 155/2024/ND-CP stipulating the sanctioning of administrative violations in the field of meteorology and hydrology.
According to the provisions in Article 8 of Decree 155/2024/ND-CP, penalties for violations of regulations on broadcasting meteorological and hydrological forecasts and warnings in Vietnam are as follows:
- A fine from 3,000,000 VND to 5,000,000 VND for broadcasting meteorological and hydrological forecasts and warnings without clearly stating the source of the information.
- A fine from 5,000,000 VND to 10,000,000 VND for broadcasting meteorological and hydrological forecasts and warnings that lack proper sourcing.
- A fine from 10,000,000 VND to 20,000,000 VND for broadcasting incomplete content of meteorological and hydrological disaster forecasts and warnings.
- A fine from 20,000,000 VND to 30,000,000 VND for broadcasting meteorological and hydrological disaster forecasts and warnings later than the regulated timeframe.
- A fine from 30,000,000 VND to 40,000,000 VND for any of the following violations:
+ Failing to broadcast meteorological and hydrological disaster forecasts and warnings;
+ Committing fraud in the sourcing of meteorological and hydrological disaster forecasts and warnings during broadcasting;
+ Broadcasting distorted meteorological and hydrological disaster forecasts and warnings;
+ Deliberately disseminating false information regarding meteorological and hydrological disaster forecasts and warnings.
- Measures to mitigate consequences:
Compulsory correction of false or misleading information concerning violations specified in points b, c, and d, clause 5, Article 8 of Decree 155/2024/ND-CP.
Note: The fines specified in Chapter II of Decree 155/2024/ND-CP are applicable to individual administrative violations. For organizations committing the same violations, the fines are double those applicable to individuals. (According to clause 1, Article 5 of Decree 155/2024/ND-CP)
