Ordinary Passport with Electronic Chip Valid for No More Than 10 Years

Recently, the Government of Vietnam has promulgated Resolution 20/NQ-CP on the specialized session on law-making in March 2019.

In the draft Law on Exit and Entry of Vietnamese Citizens, the Government of Vietnam has discussed and agreed upon the following regulations:

- Ordinary passports without electronic chips and with electronic chips have a validity period not exceeding 10 years;- Regulations on establishing a database on exit and entry of Vietnamese citizens to be managed, exploited, and shared with agencies responsible for issuing, controlling exit and entry, and connecting to the national database on population and citizen identity;- Within the assigned scope, the Minister of Defense or the Minister of Public Security has the authority to decide on the control of exit and entry for those traveling on QP - AN means to carry out QP - AN tasks in accordance with the procedures and protocols stipulated by the Government of Vietnam.
