Official: Lunar New Year and Major holidays schedule for 2025 for officials, public employees, and employees in Vietnam

On December 3, 2024, the Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs of Vietnam issued Notice 6150/TB-BLDTBXH regarding the Lunar New Year, National Day, Victory Day (April 30), and International Labor Day (May 1, 2025) holidays for officials, public employees, and employees in Vietnam.

The Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs of Vietnam hereby announces for administrative agencies, public service providers, political organizations, socio-political organizations, enterprises, and other employers to implement the holiday schedule for Lunar New Year, National Day, Victory Day (April 30), and International Labor Day (May 1 in 2025) as follows:

- Officials and public employees in administrative agencies, public service providers, political organizations, and socio-political organizations (hereinafter referred to as officials and public employees) are entitled to a Lunar New Year holiday in 2025 from Saturday, January 25, 2025 (the 26th day of the 12th month in the Year of the Dragon) until the end of Sunday, February 2, 2025 (the 5th day of the 1st month in the Year of the Snake). This period includes 5 days of Lunar New Year holiday and 4 weekly days off.

- Public officials and employees will have the 2025 National Day holiday from Saturday, August 30, 2025, to the end of Tuesday, September 2, 2025. This period includes 2 days for National Day and 2 weekly days off.

- Public officials and employees will exchange their working day from Friday, May 2, 2025, to Saturday, April 26, 2025. Thus, for Victory Day April 30 and International Labor Day May 1, 2025, officials and public employees will have 5 consecutive days off from Wednesday, April 30, 2025, to the end of Sunday, May 4, 2025 (with compensatory work on Saturday, April 26, 2025).

Agencies and units that do not have fixed weekly holidays on Saturdays and Sundays shall organize their holiday schedule according to their specific programs and plans, ensuring compliance with the law.

For employees in non-state enterprises, employers will decide on the holiday schedule for Lunar New Year, National Day, Victory Day April 30, and International Labor Day May 1 in 2025 as follows:

- For the Lunar New Year holiday: choose either 1 day at the end of the Year of the Dragon and 4 days at the beginning of the Year of the Snake, or 2 days at the end of the Year of the Dragon and 3 days at the beginning of the Year of the Snake, or 3 days at the end of the Year of the Dragon and 2 days at the beginning of the Year of the Snake.

- For the National Day holiday: Tuesday, September 2, 2025, and choose either Monday, September 1, 2025, or Wednesday, September 3, 2025.

Note: Notify employees of the Lunar New Year and National Day holiday schedule at least 30 days in advance.

Employers are encouraged to apply the Lunar New Year, National Day, Victory Day April 30, and International Labor Day May 1 holiday schedule for employees as regulated for officials and public employees.

Other holiday schedules shall comply with the provisions of the Labor Code 2019.
