Recently, the Ministry of Health of Vietnam has issued Official Dispatch 6295/BYT-KCB regarding the enhancement of the management of medical examination and assessment. In this document, the Ministry of Health of Vietnam requests the staff of the medical assessment facilities to effectively implement the following content.
- Cases of diseases and conditions that are difficult to diagnose require specialized consultations to determine, and physicians are legally responsible for their diagnostic results. The diagnosis of certain diseases, conditions, malformations, and deformities related to exposure to Agent Orange/dioxin must strictly follow Decision 3201/QD-BYT;
- The Head or Deputy Head of the Unit is required to sign and seal the Unit's name on the Summary of Inpatient Medical Records or the Summary of Outpatient Medical Records for diseases and conditions related to exposure to Agent Orange/dioxin;
- medical assessment for diseases and conditions related to exposure to Agent Orange/dioxin must be performed according to the guidelines in Decision 3459/QD-BYT. The assessment for mental illness must be performed according to the guidelines in Official Dispatch 4640/BYT-KCB.
