Not Mandatory to Place Instructional Signs Accompanying Prohibition Signs

On July 31, 2017, the Ministry of Transport issued Official Dispatch 8484/BGTVT-KHCN providing guidance on certain contents during the implementation process of the National Technical Regulation on Road Signs QCVN 41:2016/BGTVT.

Regarding the regulations on placing directional signs alongside prohibition signs, the Ministry directs:

- It is not mandatory to place directional signs accompanying prohibition signs in urban areas, cities, or traffic systems arranged in a "grid pattern" where the distance between roads is short.
Vehicles can proactively adjust their routes around prohibited roads conveniently.

- For dead-end roads or detour roads serving construction, installation is mandatory.

Additionally, the Ministry also stipulates that it is not mandatory to install signs on gantries or cantilever supports for roads with two or more lanes in each direction. The installation depends on the budget and necessity.
