New: Students from Grade 8 Allowed to Participate in National Scientific Research Competitions

On December 19, 2017, the Ministry of Education and Training issued Circular 32/2017/TT-BGDDT amending the regulations on the national science and technology research competition for secondary and high school students, attached with Circular 38/2012/TT-BGDDT.

Circular 32 amends the eligibility criteria for participation in national-level scientific and technical research competitions to include students from grade 8 and above (currently, only students from grade 9 and above are eligible).

Furthermore, the criteria for evaluation and the scoring system for projects have been revised. To be specific:

- Research question or problem: 10 points;- Research plan and methods: 15 points;- Execution of the research plan: 20 points;- Creativity: 20 points;- Exhibition booth: 10 points;- Interview response: 25 points.

Details of the evaluation criteria can be found in the Appendix attached to Circular 32/2017/TT-BGDDT, effective from February 3, 2018.
