On December 29, 2017, the Ministry of Health issued Circular 52/2017/TT-BYT stipulating prescriptions and the prescription of chemical drugs and biological products in outpatient treatment.
The prescription of medication has new notable regulations as follows:
- Prioritize prescribing single-ingredient medications or generic drugs;- Prescription must comply with treatment and care guidelines for HIV/AIDS; Article 6 Circular 21/2013/TT-BYT, accompanying medication usage instructions, and the Vietnam National Pharmacopoeia;- Do not prescribe medications, substances that are not intended for disease prevention or treatment, or medications that are not authorized for circulation in Vietnam, dietary supplements or cosmetics;- In case of amending the prescription, the prescriber must sign immediately next to the amended content;- When prescribing narcotic drugs for acute disease treatment, the quantity used should not exceed 7 days.
