New Regulations on Conditions for Training Civil Servants and Public Employees Abroad

On September 01, 2017, the Prime Minister of the Government of Vietnam signed and issued Decree 101/2017/ND-CP stipulating the training and retraining of officials and public employees (Vietnamese official and public employee).

adjustment of conditions regarding the duration of training courses, and the working time of Vietnamese officials and public employees sent for overseas training as follows:

- For training courses lasting less than 1 month, the remaining working time must be at least 18 months from the start date of the training course.- For training courses lasting 1 month or more, the remaining working time must be at least 2 years from the start date of the training course.

Replacement for current regulations:

- For training courses lasting less than 2 months, the official must have sufficient age to work at least 1 year from the start date of the training course;- For training courses lasting 2 months or more, the official must have sufficient age to work at least 5 years from the start date of the training course.

Refer to Decree 101/2017/ND-CP effective from October 21, 2017, replacing Decree 18/2010/ND-CP.
