New regulations on chip-mounted citizen identification cards available in Vietnam

Recently, the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam issued Circular 06/2021/TT-BCA regulations on citizen identity card model, effective from January 23, 2021.

According to Vietnam's Circular 06/2021/TT-BCA, the shape, size, content, specifications, other languages ​​and materials of the Citizen Identification Card (CID card) are as follows:

- As for the shape and size of the CID card: The CID card is rectangular in shape, 53.98 mm ± 0.12 mm wide, 85.6 mm ± 0.12 mm long, and 0.76 mm ± 0. 08 mm, the four corners are rounded with a radius r = 3.18 mm ± 0.3 m.

- The CID card content specifies that the front of the CID card includes the following information:

  • Left, top down: National emblem of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, 12 mm in diameter; photo of the CID card holder, size 20 x 30 mm; Valid until/Date of expiry;

  • Right, top to bottom: "CỘNG HÒA XÃ HỘI CHỦ NGHĨA VIỆT NAM"; "Độc lập - Tự do - Hạnh phúc"; SOCIALIST REPUBLIC OF VIET NAM; Independence - Freedom - Happiness; "CĂN CƯỚC CÔNG DÂN"/Citizen Identity Card; chip icon; QR code; "Số"/No; "Họ và tên"/Full name; "Ngày sinh"/Date of birth; "Giới tính"/Sex; "Quốc tịch"/Nationality; "Quê quán"/Place of origin; "Nơi thường trú"/Place of residence;
